The Dyslexia Commission 2022
The Curia Dyslexia Commission report supported by the British Dyslexia Association provided foundational thinking and the best practice groundwork for dyslexic students across the UK.
Through my work with Empowering Tech, I was able help shape recommendations, influence policy and ignite conversations about how we move towards neuroinclusive teaching strategy through the strategic implementation of assistive technology tools.
Impact on policy recommendations that have since been adopted and have more recently become visible in DfE strategy pathways:
Early intervention: The importance of early identification and support for dyslexic individuals.
Teacher training: Providing teachers with training and strategies to develop confident use of assistive technology as part of inclusive and adaptive teaching practice.
(2026 - AT Change Program)
A Toolbox Approach: Integrating assistive technology within classroom settings, promoting a toolbox approach and embedding structured implementation pathways.
(2026 SEND White Paper - towards universal provision strategies.)
By contributing to these policy discussions, I am pleased to have helped to shape the conversation around dyslexia support at a parliamentary level, potentially influencing developing legislation and educational practices in the UK.
